Goat is an animal found among the “beasts in the forests” on the land of promise, where “we did find” “the goat and the wild goat” among animals “for the use of men” (1 Nephi 18:25). The people of Nephi raised “goats, and wild goats” with grain, fruit, cattle, and horses (Enos 1:21).
People who fled from Alma and Amulek fled “even as a goat fleeth with her young from two lions” (Alma 14:29). Goats were also numbered among animals “useful for the food of man” (Ether 9:18).
