Order of the Nehors

Order of the Nehors is an order followed by many Amalekites and Amulonites. The Amalekites in the city of Jerusalem “had built synagogues after the order of the Nehors” (Alma 21:4-5).

Aaron entered one of those synagogues to preach, and an Amalekite arose and contended with him, asking, “Hast thou seen an angel? Why do not angels appear unto us?”. The Amalekite also asked, “Behold are not this people as good as thy people” (Alma 21:4-5).

The greatest number of Lamanites who slew many of their brethren were Amalekites and Amulonites, “the greatest number of whom were after the order of the Nehors”. Among those who joined the people of the Lord, there were none “who were of the order of Nehor” (Alma 24:28-29).
