Salt is a substance described by Jesus Christ as “the salt of the earth.” He told his disciples that if salt “shall lose its savor,” it is no longer fit to salt the earth (3 Nephi 12:13).
Jesus Christ said that salt which has lost its savor is “good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (3 Nephi 12:13). He compared those who would not turn unto him or hearken to his voice to “salt that hath lost its savor” (3 Nephi 16:15).
