Fatlings are possessions counted alongside grain, flocks, and herds. A tax included “a fifth part of their fatlings,” together with portions of metals and “all their grain” (Mosiah 11:3).
Members of the church had “fatlings of every kind” among an abundance that included “flocks and herds” and grain (Alma 1:29). People in the north and south raised “many flocks and herds, yea, many fatlings” (Helaman 6:12).
