Tents are dwellings that people took, pitched, and occupied in the wilderness. Nephi and those with him “did take our tents” while journeying, and after many days “did pitch our tents” (2 Nephi 5:7).
King Benjamin’s people pitched tents “round about the temple,” every family separate from another. Each man had his tent door facing the temple so that the families could hear King Benjamin’s words (Mosiah 2:5–6).
Alma and the people of the Lord were apprised of the king’s army coming, so they took “their tents and their families” and departed into the wilderness (Mosiah 18:34). Those who marched to Cumorah “did pitch our tents around about the hill Cumorah” (Mormon 6:4).
